Finger painting

Cloaked in Violet
16x20x2
Acrylic on Canvas

This is my first painting attempt since my head injury a month ago. I decided to take it easy and not stress too much about anything. It was wholly painted with my fingers - no brushes or tools were involved :)

Mixed Media Pocket Letter

I have been kind of intrigued by pocket letters for a little while, so when I saw Yasmina make one on TCW blog I couldn't resist.

There is also a one layer challenge going on at SDC ( SDC272 - Single Layer):
This week's challenge is "Single Layer", only one layer on your projects. This may be tough for some but we believe you can do anything!!
So I made my cards single layer... except once they were in the pockets I added a quote and some sequins on top... hmmm... maybe that doesn't count then. ðŸ¤” The stamp I used is by Kate Crane and it's a favorite of mine.

Anyhow, now I'm having fun filling the back side with tea and goodies for a friend in need of some happy mail.

Have you tried pocket letters?

El Pato Bouquet

This is my third of four small 4x4 canvases I'm painting for a local gallery fundraiser.

I've always loved those El Pato cans - in fact I keep them for pen and pencil holders.

When I saw a picture of someone putting a bouquet in one I knew I had to paint it :)

Acrylic on canvas.

#21Embody

I'm not going to do it.
My plate is overflowing right now.
I just can't fit this in!

LOL.

This is me when I was intrigued by the #21Embody painting challenge and swore up and down I absolutely, positively, on no uncertain terms was NOT going to participate.

Yet, I sort of am. I've kinda made a page each day for each prompt.

And it's cost me. Other things have been left undone.

But inspiration is a fleeting nymph... you need to follow it when you can.

Art Marks Timed Art Journal Page

I was doing a timed art journalling challenge last month.

'Timed' isn't exactly my thing as I like to bang around from page to page and finish them over time.

But it was certainly enjoyable nevertheless.

Have you been art journaling lately?

Tiny Stitched Tiana

Don't you just love her droll expression?

It's as if someone is making her wear a dress and she'd rather be in jeans.

Tiny Quilt: Pearl

Here's another little fabric collage.

This one is made with one of my favorite hand-carved stamps, Pearl.

I really enjoy stamping on fabric scraps and figuring out
how they can best highlight the features and look of the character.

For tiny projects I tend to keep my color palette reined in -
for example here I used blue, yellow and a little red-orange
as opposed to the whole paint store.

Mini Applique Quilt: Oscar

I've been on a sewing binge, whipping up tiny quilts featuring characters from my Unrelated Loons stamp collection.

His little butt makes me laugh every. single. time.

Hand Carved Characters: Week Five

Pearl’s passions include politics, hand fans, and umbrellas.

Clea collects vintage sports memorabilia.

Grady is prone to rearranging things when anxious.

Gerald’s tiny umbrella wasn’t the strangest thing about him.
