Moody Urban Flower Painting

I really love exploring different color schemes to figure out what adds excitement and energy to a piece and what makes a mess of things.

With my last flower being so light and bright, it seemed fun to bounce off in the other direction and make something moodier; a little bit more urban.

Background

Add purples, white and stamping

Block out flower shape

Darken background and start outlines

Add stencils, paint and doodling.

Have a terrific day :)

Flowers and Rainbows

I think this might be the most spring-colored thing I've ever painted. By a wide margin.

But instead of freaking myself out entirely, I popped in a bunch of neon, a bit of yellow and made rainbow. Which might be my favorite color.

Here's my steps:

2nd Layer:

Blocking out the flower:

Add in some neon pink... dots and details

Finish off with more paint and some stenciling.

Butterfly Tag with Hand Carved Stamp

Playing along with the March 12 Tags of 2015 by Tim Holtz and I got to use a stamp I just carved this week.

I was on the fence about making it (I'm so busy right now with art deadlines I wasn't sure I could spare the time) but then I saw Corrie's absolutely gorgeous version of the tag and I couldn't resist.

Have a great weekend!

Here's a quick 15 second flip-through:
